In Kumba, after protesting infront of the SDO’s Office, the protesters went toHon. Senator Nfon V.E. Mukete’s and received by the Royal Father who advised them to be peaceful and not trample on the law.
From the Nfon Mukete’s Palace, the peaceful protesters headed by commercial motorbike riders proceeded to Mambanda in Kumba III Sub Division. In Mbonge, the population pulled down Cameroon flags in some Chiefs’ Palaces and replaced them with Southern Cameroons flags.
Though the protesters were trailed by the security forces to avoid violence and the destruction of public or private property the demonstrations recorded some human and material casualties.
In Ikiliwindi, Mile 10, Konye Sub Division, a Gendarme Officer allegedly killed one person and wounded two others.Though he managed to escape, the irate population destroyed his car, the brigade office and chased away other gendarmes, who were manning the checkpoint around.
