The Secretary General of the Limbe City Council Nkongho Charles Arrey was last Monday September 18, 2017 attacked by armed robbers at his Batoke residence who came searching for alleged circa FCFA 20 Million they claimed was in the keeping of the Secretary General.
The Star gathered in a chat with LCC Secretary General Arrey Nkongho that the attack started at 7:22 pm Monday when he just returned from work and was in his living room about to have super when the lights in his residence went off. “I looked around outside and observed that my resident alone had no electricity. In an attempt to go out and check on my metre, through the behind door, I got hit by one of the robbers and I fell on the floor. The bulbs immediately were switched on and I found myself held at gunpoint by over five men armed to the teeth who had invaded my residence.” They communicated in French and pidgin, the Secretary General told The Star.
The armed robbers later asked him to provide the said FCFA 20 Million that he just brought from his office to the house. He told them he had no such money, he was tortured including his wife and three-year-old boy. He was then tied to the ground with his hands attached to the legs before the men of the underworld ransacked the house with anger. Mobile phones, jewelries, tablet i-pads and other portable electronics excluding TV were taken away by the robbers.
The men of the underworld later demanded the car keys of the S.G’s RAV 4. Two motor bikes were outside the compound of the S.G’s residence brought by the gangsters. They later left at top speed with the car after the operation which lasted about 30 minutes. The armed robbers also took away FCFA 100.000.
Speculations are rife that the Arrey Nkongho must have been monitored from the time he left the office. He was also due to travel go Yaounde on Tuesday morning for a meeting alongside the Government Delegate to the Limbe City Council.
Many who visited the residence of the Secretary General expressed shock by the devilish incident on an individual known to be neighbour friendly.
The forces of law and order in Limbe II Sub Division have vowed to track down the armed robbers and to recover the stolen car.
