Minister of Secondary Education’s tour of North West/South West a positive booster to school resumption

Minister of Secondary Education reading speech in Buea while South West Governor, Fako SDO, Buea D.O present

Education Stakeholders in the North West and South West Regions have hailed the Minister of Secondary Education H.E. Jean Ernest Ngalle Massena Bibehe for his effective mobilization of all and sundry towards the smooth take off of the 2017/2018 Academic year in the two English speaking Regions of the country.
The stakeholders voiced their satisfaction at an enlarged meeting that took place in Buea last Thursday August 31,2017 after the Minister chaired a working session with top officials in the Region.
Opening the deliberations that took place in the Gymnasium of Bilingual Grammar School Buea, Minister Jean Ernest Ngalle said he had come to assure children and parents in the South West Region of government’s commitment to ensure that schools resume hitch-free in the Region,which is a similar call he made in Bamenda the Regional capital of the North West Region.He went on that upon his arrival in Buea on August 30,2017, several meetings were held with PTA Presidents, Education Secretaries,Administrators,Traditional Rulers amongst others to chart a way forward for the new school year.
Other speakers included Francis Ngundu spokesperson of the civil society, Prof. Agbor Bechem, HRM Chief Dr. Godson Oben Paramount Ruler of Mamfe and Chief Njombe Johnson saluted the action by the Head of State Paul Biya on the release of some Anglophones arrested in connection to the Anglophone unrest that gripped the North West and South West Regions. Going by Chief Njombe the President of the Buea Sub Divisional Chiefs Conference, they are going to mobilize and accompany their children to school come September 4, 2017.
He went on to call for the immediate implementation of the 1996 Constitution which to him is the ultimate solution to the crises in Cameroon.He was corroborated by Chief Dr. Godson Oben who later read a Motion of Support to the Head of State Paul Biya in line with all actions taken to put an end to the Anglophone crisis stating that it is a strong signal towards the resumption of schools in both the North West and the South West Regions. South West Governor H.E. Bernard Okilia Bilai, the Senior Divisional Officer for Fako Mr. Engamba Emmanuel Ledoux, Mayors, Delegates and Traditional Rulers amongst others were present.
Concluding the meeting, Secondary Education Minister thanked all present and urged them to champion the back to school campaign come September 4, 2017.
